Moim zdaniem największy przebój grupy (jeszcze z okresu gdy był kwartetem). Także finansowy. Jak dotąd jedyny singiel, który osiągnął w dorobku zespołu status Platyny. Magazyn rockowy Kerrang! wybrał ją najlepszym singlem roku. Na całym świecie okupowała listy, choć jak to w przypadku ciężkich numerów rockowych nie są to miejsca na czele. Ostatnio znanym mi takim przypadkiem, gdy rockowy numer był wszędzie na czele każdej listy przebojów, nie tylko list gatunkowych, to Nickelback i 'How You Remind Me'. Piosenka także dostała nagrodę Grammy (w 2006) za najlepsze rockowe wykonanie na żywo. Dlatego w filmiku jest właśnie wersja live. Jak dla mnie każde wykonanie tej piosenki jest znakomite, przyprawiające o dreszcze na plecach. Jak zareaguję na nią w Krakowie?
Głos Grohla jest w utworze niesamowicie mocny, dynamiczny, ekspresyjny. Także za ten singiel Dave odebrał swoją Grammy za Najlepszy Wokal. Cały zresztą album, z którego pochodzi omawiana piosenka zebrał mnóstwo nagród, w tym Grammy za Najlepszy Rockowy Album. Napiszę jednak małą herezję. Mnie aż tak on nie zachwycił. Cenię wyżej ich następny album: Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace z 2007.
Naprawdę, wciąż zdumiewa mnie ten fakt i ciekawi, czy Kurt Cobain wiedział o możliwościach wokalnych kolegi. Piosenka napisana przez cały zespół i jak wspomina Dave Grohl, powstała w wyniku inspiracji kampanią prezydencką Johna Kerry'ego w 2004 roku. Jak wiemy przegraną Kerry'ego, mimo, że w jego kampanię Dave zaangażował się nie tylko z FF ale i z kolegą z dawnej Nirvany, Kristem Novoselicem. Jej tekst miał być o 'ograniczeniach każdego z nas i o próbie oderwania się od nich, najlepiej z pomocą kogoś'. Czy masz kogoś, kto wydobywa z Ciebie wszystko co masz najlepsze? To pytanie warto sobie zadać w trakcie pytania tego tekstu.
